  • Dune forests

    In the Duinbossen, you will find a mapped out walk of 10.3 km through woods, open fields and dunes. There are also three playgrounds where the little ones can let off steam. In addition, a mountain bike path has been laid out with a length of 22 km, of which 11.4 km is unpaved. For those who prefer to discover Duinbossen on horseback, there is a 13 km bridle path that leads over winding paths through the forest and ends on the beach.   • Uitkerkse polder

    This centuries-old meadow landscape of 1400 ha lies between Blankenberge, Wenduine, Nieuwmunster and Zuienkerke. The nature reserve is the most important meadow bird area in Flanders. There are 5 mapped out walking routes ranging from 1 km to 12.4 km, all of which are accessible to wheelchairs and prams. For the children, there is a nature playground with climbing ropes and climbing logs. For those who prefer to discover the polders by bike, there is a 16.5 km long cycle route that takes you along the most beautiful spots. Would you like to learn something?   • Beach

    The beach of De Haan is very quiet compared to other seaside resorts. There are lifeguards on duty every weekend from 1 to 15 June and every day from 16 June to 31 August, from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm. Swimming is forbidden when life guards are not present. Dogs are not allowed on the beach in the period from 1 June to 15 September between 10 am and 7.30 pm. Outside these times, dogs are allowed on the beach, whether they are on a lead or not.

  • Hiking

    If you like walking, you will certainly find something to your liking in De Haan. Besides the nature walks in the Dune Forests and the Uitkerkse Polder, you will also find the Heritage Walk. This cultural route starts at the well-known historic tram station and takes you through the picturesque Concession. Would you like to soak up even more culture? Then definitely follow the walk 'In the footsteps of Einstein'.

  • Cycling

    There are numerous mapped-out cycling routes that you can follow in De Haan. For example, there is the signposted Oude Dijkenfietsroute of 43km which takes you through the polder landscape and past small, cosy villages. At the reception of the hotel a cycle route of 30.1 km is also available. Would you prefer a longer or shorter route? At www.fietsnet.be/routeplanner you can use the junctions to put together your own route. Would you like to hire a bicycle? You can do so at Fietshuis Cattrysse, Leopoldlaan 16, 8420 De Haan.   • Sports

    Fancy a sporty holiday on the water? Then you can go to Watersports Club De Windhaan. Here you will find a wide range of water sports such as sup, kayaking, windsurfing, kite surfing, ... Something for everyone. More information can be found via this link: www.windhaan.be. For those who prefer to keep it dry, there is Tennisclub De Polderblomme. They have 6 outdoor courts with professional trainers. Reservations can be made via the website: www.tcpolderblomme.be.

  • Shopping

    De Haan has some beautiful boutiques and shops that are definitely worth a visit. For a new outfit, you can go to Guapa, LS Fashion, Due, Blue Sand,...   • Events

    Every year, numerous events are organised in De Haan. Besides the well-known belle epoque festival Trammelant, the culinary festival Kok@Zee and the atmospheric blessing of the horses, you can also enjoy seasonal highlights such as the Halloween parade and Winter in De Haan.     Bruges
